Pianist and composer Dhorn Thaksinwarajan reinterprets the works of Maurice Ravel, performing and reacting live to Cedric Arnold's film Not T/here, while augmenting a Steinway grand piano’s sound with live audio processing.

Not T/here is an experimental documentary reflecting on time, self-narrative, mythmaking and our increasingly complex relationship with reality. The work traces a path from the present towards a speculative near future. Speaking from 2035, the narrator sifts through the footage, voice memos and cryptic notes left behind by a friend, an archivist who disappeared. Set against a world of fractured reality, environmental breakdown, and a technologically driven return to authoritarian politics, the film follows the archivist's search for traces of common histories, however imperfect, until her archive begins to bleed into the narrator's own family memories. It questions whether a future haunted by endlessly rewritten, hyper-personalized approximations of our pasts is as inevitable as it seems.

Dhorn Thaksinwarajan is a Thai pianist and improviser. Beginning his musical journey on the piano at a young age, he has since then continuously grown increasingly fond of music making, sound recording - soundscaping, and improvisation. His works are often a combined effort of various disciplines such as visual art, moving images, music, acting, and poetry in live performances.

He studied at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music and University of Birmingham where he had received most hands-on experiences in electroacoustic music composition and audio-visuals works. He currently freelances as a composer, performer, and lecturer at various schools and universities in Bangkok, Thailand.

Cedric Arnold (UK/France) is a multi-disciplinary artist working across moving image, sound installation, photography and mixed media. After studying linguistics in Paris, he worked as a photojournalist in Europe and Asia. He combines his documentary background with experimental practices to explore themes relating to human perception of time, memory and reality. He has exhibited internationally, including Forum Groningen (2025), National Gallery, Bangkok (2022), Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts (2019). He lives and works in Bangkok.

Le pianiste et compositeur Dhorn Thaksinwarajan propose une relecture des œuvres de Maurice Ravel, en improvisant et en réagissant en direct au film Not T/here de Cedric Arnold. Le son d’un piano à queue Steinway est enrichi par un dispositif de traitement audio en temps réel.

Not T/here est un documentaire expérimental qui explore le temps, le récit de soi, la construction des mythes et notre rapport de plus en plus complexe à la réalité. L’œuvre retrace un parcours allant du présent vers un futur proche spéculatif. Depuis l’année 2035, le narrateur tente de reconstituer les images, les messages vocaux et les notes énigmatiques laissés par un ami, un archiviste porté disparu.

Sur fond de réalité fragmentée, d’effondrement environnemental et de retour de politiques autoritaires sous l’impulsion des nouvelles technologies, le film suit la quête de l’archiviste, à la recherche des traces d’une histoire commune, aussi imparfaites soient-elles, jusqu’à ce que ses archives commencent à se mêler aux souvenirs familiaux du narrateur. Le film interroge le caractère inévitable d’un avenir hanté par des représentations de nos passés, sans cesse réécrites et hyperpersonnalisées, qui n’en seraient que des approximations.
 

Dhorn Thaksinwarajan est un pianiste et improvisateur thaïlandais. Ayant commencé son parcours musical au piano dès son plus jeune âge, il n’a cessé depuis de développer sa passion pour la création musicale, l’enregistrement sonore, la création de paysages sonores et l’improvisation. Ses projets sont souvent le fruit d’un dialogue entre différentes disciplines artistiques, telles que les arts visuels, l’image en mouvement, la musique, le théâtre et la poésie, au sein de performances en direct.

Il a étudié à l’Institut de musique Princess Galyani Vadhana et à l’Université de Birmingham, où il a acquis une solide expérience pratique dans les domaines de la composition électroacoustique et des créations audiovisuelles. Il travaille actuellement en indépendant comme compositeur, interprète et enseignant dans différentes écoles et universités de Bangkok, en Thaïlande.
 

Cedric Arnold (Royaume-Uni/France) est un artiste pluridisciplinaire dont la pratique explore l’image en mouvement, l’installation sonore, la photographie et les techniques mixtes. Après des études de linguistique à Paris, il a travaillé comme photojournaliste en Europe et en Asie. Il associe son expérience du documentaire à des pratiques expérimentales pour explorer des thèmes liés à la perception humaine du temps, de la mémoire et de la réalité.

Son travail a été présenté dans de nombreuses expositions internationales, notamment au Forum Groningen (2025), à la National Gallery de Bangkok

Not T/here คือสารคดีแนวทดลองที่สะท้อนถึงกาลเวลา การเล่าเรื่องตัวตน การสร้างตำนาน และความสัมพันธ์ที่ซับซ้อนขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ระหว่างเรากับความเป็นจริง ภาพยนตร์พาเราเดินทางจากปัจจุบันสู่อนาคตอันใกล้ที่อาจเกิดขึ้น ผู้เล่าเรื่องจากปี พ.ศ. 2578 ย้อนสำรวจฟุตเทจ บันทึกเสียง และข้อความปริศนาที่เพื่อนคนหนึ่งซึ่งเป็นนักจดหมายเหตุที่หายตัวไปทิ้งไว้ ท่ามกลางโลกที่ความจริงแตกร้าว สิ่งแวดล้อมล่มสลาย และเทคโนโลยีกำลังพาการเมืองย้อนกลับสู่ระบอบอำนาจนิยม ภาพยนตร์ติดตามการค้นหาร่องรอยของประวัติศาสตร์ร่วมของเธอ แม้จะไม่สมบูรณ์ก็ตาม จนคลังเอกสารของเธอค่อย ๆ ซึมเข้าสู่ความทรงจำในครอบครัวของผู้เล่าเรื่อง ผลงานชวนตั้งคำถามว่า อนาคตที่ถูกหลอกหลอนด้วยอดีตฉบับจำลอง ซึ่งถูกเขียนใหม่ไม่รู้จบและปรับให้เข้ากับแต่ละคน จะเป็นสิ่งที่หลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้จริงอย่างที่ดูเหมือนหรือไม่

Dhorn Thaksinwarajan เป็นนักเปียโนและนักดนตรีที่เล่นสดชาวไทย เขาเริ่มต้นเส้นทางดนตรีกับเปียโนตั้งแต่ยังเด็ก และหลงใหลในการสร้างสรรค์ดนตรี การบันทึกเสียงและสร้างซาวด์สเคป รวมถึงการด้นสดมาโดยตลอด ผลงานของเขามักผสานหลายศาสตร์เข้าด้วยกัน ทั้งทัศนศิลป์ ภาพเคลื่อนไหว ดนตรี การแสดง และกวีนิพนธ์ ผ่านการแสดงสด

เซดริก อาร์โนลด์ (สหราชอาณาจักร/ฝรั่งเศส) เป็นศิลปินสหสาขาที่ทำงานกับภาพเคลื่อนไหว ศิลปะจัดวางทางเสียง ภาพถ่าย และสื่อผสม หลังศึกษาด้านภาษาศาสตร์ที่กรุงปารีส เขาทำงานเป็นช่างภาพข่าวทั้งในยุโรปและเอเชีย เขานำพื้นฐานด้านงานสารคดีมาผสานกับแนวทางเชิงทดลอง เพื่อสำรวจการรับรู้ของมนุษย์ต่อกาลเวลา ความทรงจำ และความเป็นจริง อาร์โนลด์เคยจัดแสดงผลงานในระดับนานาชาติ เช่น ฟอรัมโกรนิงเงิน (พ.ศ. 2568) พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ หอศิลป (พ.ศ. 2565) และพิพิธภัณฑ์วิจิตรศิลป์เกาสง (พ.ศ. 2562) ปัจจุบันเขาพำนักและทำงานอยู่ที่กรุงเทพฯ
