Sacred Sak Yant at The Siam
The Siam invites you to experience the ancient Thai art of Sak Yant in a specially consecrated space devoted to this sacred tradition.
Sak Yant (or Sak Yan, in Thai) are mystical tattoos rooted in over 2,000 years of history, originating from animistic Tai tribes and later infused with Brahmanist and Buddhist elements. These intricate designs—ranging from geometric patterns to sacred symbols and deities—are believed to offer protection, luck, charisma, and spiritual power.
Each tattoo is hand-inked using the traditional khem (bamboo-style needle), with modern hygiene practices in place through the use of disposable tips.
For first-timers, the tattoo master recommends beginning with a Hah Taew (Five Lines) or Gao Yord (Nine Peaks)—classic designs known for their strong protective and empowering qualities.
Step into a meaningful spiritual journey through the timeless tradition of Sak Yant.
Hah Taew or 5 Lines Yant
The Hah Taew is one of the most well-known Sak Yant designs, gaining global attention when Angelina Jolie received it from Ajarn Noo Ganpai. But its roots run deep—over 700 years back to the Lanna Kingdom in what is now Northern Thailand.
Originally created by the monk Kruba Kam of Wat Ton Pin in Chiang Mai around the time the city was founded in 1296, this sacred design is written in ancient Khom script and offers five powerful blessings:
-
Loving-kindness and popularity
-
Good luck and fortune
-
Protection from harm and evil spirits
-
Improved fate and destiny
-
Charm and attraction
Gao Yord – The Master Yant
Known as the “Yant Kru” or Master Yant, Gao Yord (Nine Peaks) is one of the most sacred and powerful Sak Yant designs. Highly respected for its wide-ranging protection, many choose Gao Yord as their first Sak Yant due to its universal blessings.
The design represents the nine peaks of Mount Meru – the mythical mountain of the gods in Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. It also contains powerful sacred geometry, the names of nine Buddhas, and protective mantras written in ancient Khom script.
The blessings of the Gao Yord Sak Yant include:
-
Loving-kindness and popularity
-
Protection from accidents, black magic, and evil spirits
-
Luck, fortune, and smooth business ventures
-
Invincibility and immunity from serious harm
-
Power, leadership, and authority
-
Victory over enemies
-
Courage and readiness to fight for what’s right
-
Charm and attraction
-
Support for career and destiny
Wearing this Yant is believed to shield the bearer both physically and spiritually – a symbol of inner strength and sacred protection.
