INORIMAI 祈舞 (Prayer Dance)

Created by Nanaka Abayomi, is a ceremonial performance that bridges the grace of Japanese traditional arts with the vitality of contemporary and global expressions. INORIMAI is a universal offering, weaving together ancient forms and present-day artistry.

The journey unfolds through eight stages, each evoking a sacred quality of human experience. With dance as a divine communication, Nanaka threads prayer songs and mantra, tea and contemplation, reflecting the Japanese cultural spirit at its heart. These elements are soundscaped with soulful intercultural music (Japanese, Indonesian, West African, African-American, Indian) and devotional voices in hymns and poetry.
