MUSIC PRODUCTION 101: BUILD YOUR FIRST BEAT

Have you ever listened to an electronic track and wondered, “How do they actually make this?”

Electronic Music Production 101 is a beginner-friendly introduction to the world of producing electronic music.

You don’t need to understand music theory, own a studio or have previous production experience.

The workshop will take you inside the creative process and break down how an electronic track is built from the ground up.

We’ll explore:

• What a DAW is and how music is created inside one
• Building a basic drum groove
• Beats, rhythm and percussion
• Creating basslines
• Working with melodies and musical ideas
• Samples and vocals
• Understanding the different sections of a track
• Arrangement and creating musical energy
• Building tension and release
• Turning a simple idea into a complete piece of music
• Developing your own creative production workflow

The workshop will include practical demonstrations so you can see how the different elements come together inside an actual music production session.

No previous production or musical experience is required.

The workshop is facilitated by Gabriel Melchizedek, aka EXUBERANCE, an electronic music producer and DJ.

Gabriel has performed internationally as a DJ and, more recently as EXUBERANCE, has played at BaliSpirit Festival and Friday Night Ecstatic Dance at The Yoga Barn, Ubud.

His original music has been released through international record labels, with his track House Party in Ubud reaching #18 on the Traxsource Jackin House chart.

The intention is to demystify music production and show that creating electronic music is something anyone with curiosity and creativity can begin exploring.
