On March 14, SOL Dance Studio invites you to join Contemporary Movement Day - a one-day dance intensive bringing together contemporary movement, lyrical choreography, contact improvisation, and an evening open jam ✨

This event is designed as an immersive afternoon and evening experience where you can explore different contemporary dance approaches, deepen your body awareness, and connect with the local dance community.

Program

✨ 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Contemporary Workshop by Mimi
A contemporary class focused on body awareness, fluidity, and expressive movement. You will explore dynamics, coordination, and freedom in motion while developing a deeper connection between technique and personal expression.

🎶 4:10 PM – 5:10 PM
Lyrical Choreography by Kezia
Lyrical dance blends contemporary technique with emotional storytelling through movement. In this class you will learn a choreography set to expressive music, focusing on musicality, softness, and emotional interpretation.

🤝 5:25 PM – 7:00 PM
Floor Work + Contact Improvisation by Kira
This workshop introduces floor work techniques and the principles of contact improvisation - movement through shared weight, balance, listening, and spontaneous interaction with partners. A great way to develop trust, sensitivity, and playful exploration in dance.

🎧 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Open Jam with DJ Waxwood
The evening continues with an open dance jam — a free movement space where dancers can improvise, connect, and experiment together to live DJ music.
